Is doxy.me an EMR/EHR?

Doxy.me is a specialized telemedicine platform, not an EMR/EHR. Unlike EMR/EHRs, we are fully focused on providing the simplest, most secure way to connect with patients remotely, providing all the tools you need to make virtual visits as easy and effective as being in person.

You can pair doxy.me with your existing EMR/EHR, and many providers integrate their doxy.me virtual room link directly into EHR appointments for extra convenience.

Are there any restrictions to how long calls can be or how many I can have?

Unlike other video platforms, with Doxy.me, you’re free to see as many patients as you’d like, for as long as each visit requires. There are no hidden caps or timeouts - just secure, reliable telehealth whenever you need it.

What is the implementation/set-up process?

With doxy.me the set-up process is deliberately designed to be quick and straightforward - so you can start seeing patients that same day. There is no implementation fee, or set-up period: simply sign up, choose your custom URL, submit your branding, and start adding users.

Which devices/downloads do patients and providers need to use doxy.me?

Doxy.me works right in your browser, so patients and providers can connect from any computer, tablet, or smartphone—no downloads needed. All you need is internet access and a supported browser like Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge.

A doxy.me Clinic account is built for teams. You’ll get multi-provider and multi-location support, team-wide reporting, and role-based access permissions. Features like a shared patient queue, transfers between staff, and collecting pre-appointment consent or payments help streamline your workflow - while tools like custom branding, virtual backgrounds, and a collaborative whiteboard make visits more engaging and professional.

Does doxy.me support multiple providers or locations?

Doxy.me makes it simple to support multiple providers and locations under one account. Each provider has their own virtual room, tied to a single clinic where administrators can manage scheduling, billing, and reporting across multiple locations.

Does doxy.me support custom branding for clinics?

With a Clinic account, doxy.me becomes a fully branded extension of your practice. Your account is customized to look and feel like you - so patients feel as though they’re visiting your practice, not a third-party platform.

How does the waiting room work?

Rather than going straight into a video call, with doxy.me, patients enter a secure virtual waiting room before their session. Providers can monitor their arrival in real time, and start the session at their convenience, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. While they wait, patients can be asked to fill out forms, send payment, or transfer key files, with a chat function available throughout.

Does doxy.me support custom intake forms?

With a doxy.me Clinic account, you can upload your own forms or documents for patients to review and sign electronically, making intake seamless, secure, and HIPAA-compliant. Four forms are also provided as standard, covering typical use cases including consent, release of information, and privacy policies.

Using doxy.me

How do I know when a patient checks in?

Doxy.me notifies you in real time when a patient arrives in your waiting room. Depending on your settings, alerts can appear as browser notifications, emails, or texts - so you don’t need to keep the platform open to stay updated.

Can I message patients outside of the call?

Doxy.me includes secure messaging so you can communicate with patients before, during, or after a session. You can send messages, reminders, or instructions via chat, as well as checking their connection status

Can I transfer a patient to another provider?

Doxy.me lets you transfer patients securely from one staff member to another provider’s waiting room. There’s no need for the patient to rejoin, so their experience stays uninterrupted with no risk of getting dropped.

Can multiple providers use the same virtual waiting room?

Shared rooms in Doxy.me let multiple providers use the same virtual waiting room. Patients enter the shared space, and any available provider can start the session, making it ideal for clinics with multiple providers operating a triage or first-come-first-serve service.

Can I have calls with more than one person?

Doxy.me lets you host secure video sessions with multiple participants at once. Invite family members, interpreters, or additional providers as needed and choose if you want to start the session with everyone together, or invite one by one from the waiting room.

Do you store Protected Health Information (PHI)?

Doxy.me does not store PHI. All video calls and chats are encrypted, keeping patient data private and secure at all times and keeping your practice compliant with HIPAA regulations.

How does pricing work with doxy.me?

Doxy.me pricing is simple and transparent. We charge per user, starting at a base rate of $50 per provider. This means your cost is predictable and scales with your team size, without ever restricting your calls or minutes.

Does doxy.me integrate with my EHR?

Doxy.me works seamlessly alongside your EHR without needing a full integration. By embedding your room link into your appointment schedules, you can start sessions and connect with patients in a single click, while keeping all documentation in your existing system.
